Pastor Taiwo Odukoya dedicates new Church auditorium

Founding Pastor of the Fountain of Life Church Lagos and husband of late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya yesterday June 28th led other members of the church to dedicate their new ultra-modern worship auditorium. Dignitaries at the event included Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola and his wife Abimbola as well as Bishop Oyedepo who preached during the dedication service. GEJ to go watch Super Eagles in Brazil if they make it to quarter-final

President Jonathan has promised to travel to Brazil to watch the Super Eagles live if they make it to the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup. Nigeria will play France in the Round of 16 tomorrow Monday June 30th (5pm Nigerian time) and if they beat France, GEJ and some members of his govt will travel to Brazil to watch their next match.

8 months pregnant Olympian runs 800m race

28 year old Olympian and five-time U.S. national champion Alysia Montano ran an 800m race at the Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California, yesterday and people are now questioning if it's safe. 
Alysia received a standing ovation after completing the race in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds, 35 seconds slower than her personal best of 1:57.34, which she smashed back in 2010 in a race in Monaco.
"I've been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process.' Alysia said after the race...
Doctors gave her the OK to run but isn't this too rigorous for a woman so pregnant?

Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to beat Bosnia in their next round of game in the ongoing World Cup tournament in Brazil.
According to the Minister, Nigeria could still make it even after the draw with Iran Monday.
In a one liner statement on her Facebook page sent by her Media Adviser Mr. Paul Nwabuko, Okonjo-Iweala said, “Go, Nigeria! We can still do it. Bosnia, here we come!”

Female suicide bomber attacks military facility in Gombe State

According to unconfirmed reports coming from Gombe state, a woman suicide bomber detonated a bomb this morning along Military Quarter Guard in Biu Road in Gombe State, killing herself. The bomb, which the woman was reportedly carrying in her purse, went off before she got to the Quarter Guard believed to be her target. Eye-witnesses believe that the bomb went off prematurely. There are reports that one soldier died in the explosion but there have so far been no official confirmation.

Kano reportedly boiling following announcement of Sanusi as new Emir

Going by the tweets of Jamil Abubakar, Son of Inspector General of Police, riot has broken out in Kano state following the announcement of former CBN governor Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano. According to his tweets, Jamil says the people of Kano are not happy with the announcement and are causing trouble in the town. He however says the situation has been brought under control and no life was lost.

TLC blast Rihanna for CFDA sheer dress...and Rihanna claps back!

Some people still don't know not to mess with Rihanna...she doesn't know how to be the big person and just ignore. She always replies. So during an interview on a programme in Australia yesterday, the remaining members of TLC, Chilli and T.Boz, criticized Rihanna for wearing that see-through outfit to Monday's Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards.

UNILAG students protest hike in registration fee, shut down campus

There's a protest currently going on at the University of Lagos. Students are protesting UNILAG authority demanding that some students pay N20,000 for late editing or registration of Course Forms.

The students first converged at the University's Senate Building where they shouted slogans and sang protest songs, demanding that the school ends this form of exploitation today, while accusing their VC of corruption. They left the senate building and went on a rampage through all the faculties in UNILAG demanding their rights.

Brother of Sudanese woman says she should be executed if she refuses to denounce Christianity

Some of you might not know this, but the Sudanese woman, Meriam Ibrahim being held in prison and sentenced to death for abandoning her for Islamic faith for Christianity, was actually turned in to the authorities by her own family members.
